In the ongoing Asian Champions League, the opening games have not been kind to the three Chinese clubs participating in the Elite division. Each of them has suffered a defeat, while Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr, a team competing in the second-tier competition, Asian Champions League Two, has made a strong start.

In the Asian Champions League Two, Al-Nassr, led by coach Jorge Jesus who was appointed on July 14, 2025, has been unstoppable. They recently defeated Istiklol of Tajikistan with a resounding 5-0 victory. Notably, this match saw the goals scored by Sadio Mane, Kingsley Coman, Wesley, and two by Angelo, all Brazilian players in the squad.

Interestingly, Cristiano Ronaldo was rested during this game, but Al-Nassr's dominance was evident nonetheless. In a different match, Al-Nassr also managed to secure a win against Ulsan HD of South Korea, with Abdulrahman Ghareeb contributing one of the goals.

Meanwhile, in the Asian Champions League Elite, Shanghai Shenhua faced Gangwon FC of South Korea and lost 1-0. Shanghai Port, the other Chinese representative, suffered a 3-0 defeat at home against Vissel Kobe of Japan. Ulsan HD, too, emerged victorious against Chengdu Rongcheng, another Chinese team, with a score of 1-0. Vissel Kobe also won their match, defeating Shanghai Port 3-0.

These results continue to highlight the challenges faced by Chinese clubs in the Asian Champions League Elite, while Al-Nassr's strong performance in the second-tier competition serves as a beacon of hope for teams in the region. As the tournament progresses, it will be interesting to see how these teams fare and if any of them can turn their fortunes around.
