Akron extends deal with Zuba.
Refreshed Article:
Hey there! Check this out, straight from the horse's mouth, orshould I say, the press service: Artem Dzyuba's inked a fresh one-season deal with Akron! The Tolyatti RPL club's latest announcement confirms the news.
This 36-year-old fella joined Akron back in September. They wrapped up the season in the ranks, securing the ninth spot in the RPL.
With his new contract, Dzyuba looks set to fire up those Akron ranks with his impressive record. He notched up 22 matches in the RPL, with a striking nine goals and seven assists under his belt. He's also got one goal to his name in two "Fonbet" Cup of Russia matches.
Fun fact? In March, he became the all-time leading scorer in Russian football history, overtaking Alexander Kerzhakov’s record (233 goals), and the top scorer for the Russian national team (31 goals) as well, a position he held since 2021.
Now, here's something he shared with us back in early May - renewing his contract with Tolyatti was a top priority for him.
Dzyuba's dealt with quite the football adventure, having played for iconic teams like Spartak, Zenit, Adana Demirspor, and Lokomotiv, and stints on loan with Tom, Rostov, and Arsenal.
