Akon Concert in Sochi Evacuated Due to Drones Threat

The Akon concert in Sochi on August 8, 2025, was temporarily evacuated due to a drone attack threat, causing a security scare that delayed the event.

The concert took place at the Iceberg Ice Palace in Sirius, Sochi. Just before Akon could perform, authorities ordered the evacuation of thousands of spectators to the lobby amid an active air raid alert caused by suspected drone attacks in the area. Earlier that day, as the drone attacks unfolded, Akon's security team sheltered him in a hotel bathroom to protect him from possible harm.

After about half an hour, the air raid alert was lifted, and audiences were allowed back to the venue to continue the concert. However, many ticket holders returned their tickets due to concerns over safety during the unrest from drone threats. The city authorities, including Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin, reassured the public that there was no lasting danger to residents and visitors but cautioned about the hazards of drone debris being found on the ground. Additionally, flight arrivals and departures at Sochi Airport were temporarily restricted due to the security situation.

This disruption came amid increased regional security tensions with multiple drone strikes occurring in Sochi on that day, reflecting a heightened risk environment for public events. The incident underscores the impact of conflict-related threats on cultural and entertainment activities in affected areas.

In a normal scenario, the concert would have been a night to remember, with fans gathering outside the Iceberg Skating Palace before the concert and ticket prices for the dance floor at 13,300 rubles. However, the event will likely be remembered for the unexpected evacuation and the artist's brief hiding in a bathroom during the scare. Despite this, Akon was able to go on stage and perform for the audience who returned, making the night a memorable one for those who remained.

As the Akon concert continued at the Iceberg Ice Palace in Sochi, it became clear that entertainment and celebrities were not immune to the surrounding security threats, as the event was disrupted by suspected drone attacks. Before Akon could take the stage, authorities evacuated thousands of spectators, causing apause in the music festivities.
