Airports in Yamal encounter scheduling difficulties

In Yamal, flights remain delayed due to airport restrictions

In the small Northern city of Yamal, passengers are still dealing with the aftermath of flight disruptions. According to a Telegram channel from Yamal Airlines, these issues arose due to temporary shutdowns at various airports across Russia on May 7. The airline reassured passengers that they'd receive services in accordance with Federal Aviation Rules. It's crucial for flyers to keep a close eye on their flight status online [1].

If you recall, that night several airports—Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky—implemented restrictions under the "Carpet" plan. This move involved utilizing air defense systems to neutralize drones dispatched by the Ukrainian Armed Forces toward the Moscow region [2]. While these restrictions were eventually lifted, they left quite a disruptive impact on flight schedules, leading to cancellations and reschedulings [2]. Reports have been circulating about these airports being packed with eager flyers [2].

Meanwhile, incidents of delays and cancellations have been occurring in several Siberian cities as well. Over 4,000 passengers have been left stranded due to delays at airports in cities such as Abakan, Barnaul, Gorno-Altaisk, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk, Novokuznetsk, Novosibirsk, Norilsk, Omsk, and Tomsk [4]. Additionally, over 20 flights were delayed at Kazan airport, with cancellations affecting flights from Istanbul and Moscow [3].
