The heightened security measures were instigated due to the impending threat of drone attacks. Ten Russian Federation regions, including Tambov, Saratov, Voronezh, Kursk, Bryansk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, and Kherson, as well as Zaporozhye regions, are on high alert.

As per Human Rights Watch, Russian forces have conducted at least 45 targeted drone attacks on civilians in Ukraine since June 2024, leading to a significant portion of civilian casualties recorded in Kherson[1]. These drone attacks have also primarily targeted civilians in various settings, such as while walking, cycling, or driving, and have been armed with antipersonnel landmines that contaminate areas and injure civilians[1].

Russia's special operations in Ukraine continue, with drone attacks part of their strategy to disrupt civilian life and infrastructure. These special operations often incorporate covert or unconventional military tactics, potentially including frontline drone reconnaissance and targeted strikes[1].

However, there is limited available information about any specific drone attack threats within Russian Federation regions. The possibility of drone attacks targeting Russian infrastructure or military sites cannot be ruled out[1].

The situation in Ukraine remains volatile, with ongoing drone attacks primarily targeting civilians and infrastructure. While there are currently no major reports of drone attack threats within specific Russian Federation regions, the shifting dynamics of the conflict could potentially lead to retaliation or cross-border incidents.
