Airport in Newark experiences further flight disruptions due to telecom trouble, FAA verifies

Bloody hell, it's all gone tits up again at Newark, according to an audio clip recently released on 'America Reports.'

On Sunday morning, another equipment fiasco plagued Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), causing a 45-minute ground stop due to temporarily dark radar screens, as reported by local TV station ABC 7.

"We've got a telecomm f**k up at Philly TRACON Area C, guiding planes in and out of Newark's airspace," an air traffic controller can be heard saying in the recording. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed this, stating the issue briefly delayed flights while ensuring safety protocols were functioning properly.

There have been 70 flights canceled at EWR in the last 24 hours, according to flight tracking website FlightAware. The ongoing issues at the airport have sparked a renewed discussion regarding the privatization of air traffic control.

Now, let's cut the sh about flying being safe,** says United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, who, in a pre-recorded interview with CBS News' "Face the Nation," maintains his stance on the matter. "Waterboard me with runway rubber, I still believe flying is the safest way to travel."

The FAA will hold a meeting on Wednesday concerning EWR flights despite both Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Kirby stating that flights have already been scaled back. Duffy, discussing the delays, mentioned, "I hate families with little kids waiting four hours like I used to do."

Not just Newark, other airports have faced delays due to these issues. On Sunday afternoon, the FAA declared a runway equipment problem at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and though only Delta Air Lines flights were impacted, delays still ensued.
