Airport expansion to be unveiled by Vitaly Hocenko in Omsk-Fyodork, set for launch in 2028

In a significant development for the Omsk region, Governor Vitaly Khotchenko has secured the support of key Russian government officials for the construction of a new airport in Fedorovka. The new airport, scheduled to launch in 2028, is part of a broader effort to support the region's development.

Governor Khotchenko held talks with Russian Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities Marat Khusnullin and Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, who have expressed their readiness to support the project. The total investment for the new airport and other investment projects in the Omsk region is expected to exceed one trillion rubles.

The new airport construction is set to be part of Omsk's upcoming infrastructure development phase. Governor Khotchenko has not revealed any new details about the funding for the over one trillion rubles investment. However, regional authorities plan to apply for the cash infrastructure credit program for over 8 billion rubles in project financing.

The support of Ministers Khusnullin and Reshetnikov could potentially secure additional funding for the project. The new airport will address development constraints caused by the current airport's location and is expected to facilitate the development of a million-plus city.

Governor Khotchenko has discussed the new airport project with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stated that project decisions have been made and funding is secured for the new airport. A positive outcome reported by Governor Khotchenko is the reduction in brain drain in the Omsk region, which he considers a significant development for the region's future.

Both Ministers Khusnullin and Reshetnikov have expressed support for the Omsk region's development. Their backing, along with the investment, is expected to boost the region's economy and contribute to its growth. The new airport in Fedorovka is officially scheduled to open in November 2025.
