Aircrafts with military might relocated to Poland by Germany
The German air force has deployed five Eurofighter combat jets to Poland, marking a significant move to bolster NATO's eastern flank defense and support Polish forces in monitoring their airspace. The deployment is scheduled for several weeks, starting from Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and is in response to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and the upcoming Russian-Belarusian "Zapad-2025" joint military exercises.
The Eurofighter jets will take off from the military airport in Minsk Mazowiecki, east of Warsaw, and will be stationed at the same location. Around 150 German soldiers are on site to support both logistical and operational tasks.
The German air force has been supporting Poland in monitoring Polish airspace since April. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced the deployment in January. The deployment is a response to a Polish request and demonstrates NATO solidarity, serving as a credible deterrent against potential threats in the region.
The deployment aims to reinforce collective defense, ensuring rapid reaction capabilities to intercept any airspace violations. The mission reflects NATO's readiness and commitment to protecting Central and Eastern Europe. The exact duration of the deployment is several weeks, aligning with the period ahead of the large-scale Zapad-2025 military exercises by Russia and Belarus scheduled for mid-September 2025.
Poland, feeling threatened by Russia, is currently arming up. The German air force deployment in Poland is a clear demonstration of the alliance's solidarity and commitment to protecting its member states.
