Air Peace Slams "Unbecoming" Conduct of Senator Oshiomhole at Lagos Airport
Air Peace Expresses Firm Position Against Violence, Denounces Terminal Disruption (According to Oshiomhole)
In a surprising turn of events, Air Peace has publicly criticized the "disruptive" behavior of a prominent Nigerian politician, Adams Oshiomhole, after an incident at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on June 11, 2025.
The airline, via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, accused Oshiomhole of causing a ruckus, including assaulting staff and barricading the Zulu Terminal at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) following his missed flight to Abuja.
According to Air Peace, the former Edo State Governor and current Senator arrived at the Zulu Hall of the terminal at 6:10 AM, just 20 minutes before the scheduled 6:30 AM departure of Flight P47120 to Abuja. At this point, the airline indicated that boarding had closed, and the flight departed as planned, adhering to its on-time departure policy.
In a viral video later released, Oshiomhole was seen obstructing the Zulu Terminal at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT). Following this, Air Peace stated that Oshiomhole resorted to violence, physically assaulting their staff and forcefully barricading the terminal’s entrance. He went as far as sealing the entry gate and manning the access point, effectively halting other passengers from gaining entry into the terminal.
This chaotic scene disrupted airport operations, significantly affecting several other passengers scheduled for various flights. Air Peace reportedly had to activate a contingency plan, rerouting affected passengers through another terminal to maintain smooth travel for its customers.
Air Peace expressed its regret over the incident, stating that such behavior from a high-profile figure was unacceptable and disruptive to fellow passengers and employees. The airline repeated that no individual, regardless of their status, is exempt from the strict aviation rules governing operations.
The statement further emphasized Air Peace's strict anti-violence policy, promising to uphold this standard and deliver safe and punctual travel services to the Nigerian public. The airline urged all passengers to maintain decorum and respect while engaging with their staff and airport processes.
''Air Peace stands for discipline, integrity, and respect for due process. No individual, no matter how influential, is above these values," the airline concluded.
