Air India faces 51 safety violations in shocking DGCA audit findings
India’s aviation regulator has uncovered 51 safety violations at Air India during a July audit. The findings include severe breaches in pilot training, crew scheduling, and risk assessments. Seven of these issues have been classified as critical and require immediate action.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) identified gaps in training for pilots operating Boeing 787s and 777s. Regulators noted 'recurring training gaps' and found that some sessions used uncertified flight simulators. This raises concerns about whether crews are fully prepared for emergencies.
The DGCA’s report highlights urgent fixes needed in training, scheduling, and risk management. Air India has until late July and August to implement corrections. Failure to comply could lead to further regulatory action against the carrier.
