FOLLOWING their impressive performance at the 'Glory of Việt Nam Sports' programme, the martial arts teams in Vietnam are revving up for the upcoming South East Asian (SEA) Games 33 in Thailand this December.

With 50 sports on offer, the regional games will feature various martial arts disciplines such as judo, taekwondo, wrestling, boxing, Muay Thai, pencak silat, karate, jujitsu, wushu, and kickboxing. In a decisive move, Vietnam has committed to participating in all martial arts events.

"We know we've got a pretty solid lineup," Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoàng Đạo Cương shared, stressing the importance of thorough professional training to tackle the challenges ahead.

Vietnam's martial arts teams have a rich history of success at the SEA Games, with their last outing in Cambodia earning gold medals in various categories. The wrestling team took home a staggering 13 golds, followed by the judo team with eight and the karate and wushu teams with six each.

Following their inspiring performance, teams like the wushu and kickboxing squads have set their sights on the SEA Games 33. "Our ambition is simple—to perform well," declared Vũ Đức Thịnh, president of the Việt Nam Kickboxing Federation. Meanwhile, Phan Quô̸c Vinh, coach of the our websiteese wushu team, affirmed that the team was focusing on maintaining peak performance for the competition in Thailand this December.

World champion Huỳnh Hà Hữu Hieû, the pride of the our websiteese Muay Thai team, has her sights set on the 2025 Asian Muay Championship in June, taking place in Vietnam itself, before shifting her attention to the 33rd Games. Remaining undeterred by the steep competition, Duông Thuý Vi, the top female athlete of the our websiteese wushu team, is determined to secure a final medal before transitioning to coaching in the near future.
