Aidan Thomas clinches victory at the New Mexico Open tournament

Winning the New Mexico Open for a one-stroke lead, former New Mexico State golfer Aidan Thomas carded a 71, scoring a one-under round on Wednesday, wrapping up the tournament with a total of 13-under for the week.

In the beautiful setting of Turtleback Mountain Golf and Resort in Elephant Butte, Aidan Thomas, a former New Mexico State golfer, emerged victorious at the 2023 New Mexico Open. Thomas finished the tournament with a score of 13-under, one stroke ahead of the second-place finisher.

Thomas's impressive performance was marked by under-par scores in all three rounds, with a stellar display in the second round where he shot 64. Jhared Hack, another contender, finished second with a score of 12-under. Notably, A.J. Crouch and Brian Stark tied for third place at 11-under.

The tournament also saw some memorable moments. Jhared Hack made a hole-in-one on No. 17 during the tournament, adding an exciting element to the competition. NMSU senior Javier Delgadillo earned low amateur honors, finishing the tournament at 8-under.

Unfortunately, Notah Begay III, an Albuquerque native and four-time Tour winner, did not make the cut in the New Mexico Open. However, Matt Every, a former PGA Tour professional, managed to make the cut with a score of 11-over.
