In the ongoing conflict in Gaza, a heartbreaking incident has come to light. A five-year-old Palestinian boy named Amir was tragically killed after receiving humanitarian aid at a distribution point run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).

According to Anthony Aguilar, a former contractor with the GHF and retired U.S. Special Forces officer, Amir walked barefoot for 12 kilometers to reach the aid point on May 28. After receiving some food aid, Amir expressed his gratitude by touching Aguilar’s face and kissing his hand, saying "thank you" in English.

However, the joy was short-lived. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) began firing pepper spray, tear gas, stun grenades, and bullets into the crowd of civilians waiting for aid. Amir, scared and running away from the chaos, was unfortunately shot and killed.

Aguilar described the aid sites run by GHF as “designed death traps” and accused the Israeli military of actively shooting at civilians during the incident. He also alleged that the IDF was giving orders to contractors on the ground, implicating direct military involvement in the violence at these humanitarian points.

The family of Amir, identified in some reports as 10 years old, confirmed that he was killed while attempting to receive aid at these controversial, Israeli- and U.S.-backed facilities.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza since October 7, 2023, has resulted in a high number of injuries among Palestinians. According to reports, over 145,000 Palestinians have been injured due to the Israeli aggression. This tragic figure includes Amir, who lost his life in the chaos.

The situation in Gaza is dire. The United Nations-backed security agency has warned of a "worst-case scenario of famine" currently unfolding in the region. The death toll has surpassed 60,000, with over 147 deaths due to starvation.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the human cost of the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The international community must take urgent action to bring an end to the violence and ensure the safety and well-being of all civilians in the region.
