Aid plans revealed by Trump for residents of Gaza
Donald Trump, the US President, announced additional humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza during a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland. The announcement comes after the US provided millions for food supplies in Gaza just a few weeks ago.
The current situation in Gaza is critical, with severe shortages of food, medical supplies, fuel, and water exacerbating a rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis. The conflict between Israel and the Islamic Hamas, sparked by attacks on October 7, 2023, has resulted in over 1,200 deaths and taken another 250 as hostages into the Gaza Strip.
Trump described the situation in Gaza as dire and stated that Israel bears a great responsibility in ensuring aid reaches the people in Gaza. He mentioned that Israel is hindered by the fact that Hamas continues to hold Israeli hostages.
Israel, however, denies responsibility for the distribution problems in the Gaza Strip. Since March of this year, Israel has only allowed a few aid deliveries into the region.
Large-scale aid deliveries were brought into Gaza for the first time in months on Sunday. However, the ongoing conflict does not distinguish between civilians and fighters, making access to aid a significant challenge.
According to Palestinian reports, more than 59,000 people have been killed so far in the ongoing Gaza war. Malnutrition rates are alarmingly high, especially affecting children and pregnant or breastfeeding women. Over 40% of pregnant/breastfeeding women are severely malnourished.
Hospitals treating severe acute malnutrition (SAM) are overwhelmed and running out of fuel and medicines, while water and sanitation breakdowns exacerbate disease spread. Since May 27, more than 1,060 people in Gaza have died and 7,200 injured while trying to access food, indicating that even access within Gaza is extremely dangerous.
The WHO and other UN agencies urgently call for unhindered, sustained humanitarian access to Gaza that ensures a steady flow of diverse and nutritious food, therapeutic supplies, medicines, and fuel to avoid further collapse of health and sanitation systems.
The humanitarian aid blockade imposed by Israeli authorities has been in place for over 4.5 months, since March 2, 2025. This blockade significantly restricts food, medical, and other humanitarian supplies reaching Gaza’s population.

In summary, the humanitarian aid situation in Gaza is dire due to Israel's persistent blockade preventing aid delivery for months, causing extreme malnutrition, healthcare system collapse, and a looming famine. International organizations emphasize the critical need for Israel to allow unimpeded humanitarian access to protect civilians and meet urgent basic needs.
We, children in Gaza, are deeply affected by the ongoing war-and-conflicts, as malnutrition rates are alarmingly high, especially amongst our vulnerable group. The political stalemate between Israel and the Islamic Hamas, marked by crime-and-justice issues such as hostages, has intensified general-news headlines globally. Trump's announcement of additional humanitarian aid may bring hope, but the delivery challenges persist due to the complex nature of the issue.
