In an unprecedented move, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has reportedly dished out food aid outside of distribution centers, heading straight to the people of Gaza for the very first time. The initiative involved about 20 trucks ferrying supplies to ease the load on the current distribution centers, according to an Israeli news network.

Media outlets in Israel also echoed this "first-time trial" by GHF in the northern part of the city of Rafah, with local Palestinian forces lending a helping hand. The process at the existing distribution centers seemed to go off without a hitch, as per the news platform "ynet," quoting the foundation.

However, medical sources at the Nasser Hospital revealed that at least four casualties occurred near a distribution center in Rafah, Southern Gaza Strip. Eyewitnesses pointed out that the incident occurred approximately one kilometer away from the distribution center. The Israeli military reported that a handful of suspects approached their troops in the Rafah area during the night on Sunday. After being ordered to withdraw, the soldiers fired warning shots.

Now let's dive a little deeper:

The GHF had been busy delivering aid through four distribution centers in southern Gaza, including the Tel al-Sultan refugee camp, aiming to bypass Hamas-controlled distribution channels. This initiative provided essential supplies like food, medicine, and shelter materials to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, with plans to boost operations to support the entire population. Nevertheless, the undertaking has faced challenges and criticism, with violent incidents popping up near distribution sites and temporary closures occurring as a result.

In one such incident, the IDF acknowledged firing at Palestinians approaching an aid site; however, these shots were claimed to be warning shots and not aimed at targeting civilians. The GHF's actions have faced scrutiny for potentially jeopardizing humanitarian neutrality and safety. Furthermore, there have been accusations of false or misleading reporting about incidents around the aid distribution, with some media outlets being criticized for allegedly accepting Hamas's narrative without critical evaluation.

Despite the hurdles, the GHF remains steadfast in its mission, with the U.S. considering substantial funding to support the foundation's efforts.
