Aid blockade persists for Gaza, UNRWA issues caution

Palestinians starving in Gaza as Israel bans aid entry

Hear ye, hear ye! The UN's relief agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, is crying foul as Israel continues to deny entry of humanitarian aid, medical, and commercial supplies into Gaza.

This ban on aid comes following the collapse of the Gaza ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel, resulting in a 9-week siege on Gaza. Israel’s decision to shut off assistance to the Strip has experts warning of catastrophic consequences, including starvation.

On Sunday, UNRWA put it bluntly: "Israel is playing chicken with lives, and the longer this blockade continues, the more fucking irreversible harm is being done to countless lives." If that ain't clear enough, they added that they've got loads of trucks loaded with aid ready to roll, but they're being blocked from entering the area.

Gaza's Health Ministry painted a grim picture, reporting that over 52,810 people have perished since October 2023. Many victims are caught in the rubble or on roads, with rescuers unable to reach them.

Israel's ban on aid is linked to security and political conditions following the October 2023 Hamas attacks and subsequent hostilities. After the attacks, Israel imposed a draconian blockade, cutting off all essentials like food, water, medicine, fuel, and electricity. While restrictions were later eased, severe constraints still remain. A brief ceasefire in early 2025 offered a glimmer of hope, but following its collapse in March 2025, a comprehensive ban on humanitarian aid supplies entering Gaza was reinstated.

According to sources, Israel has made the return of hostages taken by Hamas a prerequisite for lifting the blockade. The blockade has led to famine conditions, with airstrikes destroying food infrastructure and aid organizations reporting empty markets and widespread malnutrition among children.

In short, Israel’s blockade is painted as a bitter game of politics and security, while humanitarian organizations warn of the devastating impact on civilians in Gaza. So, folks, let's not turn a blind eye to this crisis. Unite and show some fucking empathy for our fellow humans in Gaza!
