Agents from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) surprise visitors during an immigration raid, prompting a rebuke from Penske.

In a recent development, transportation services company Penske has publicly rebuked the use of its rental trucks during a DHS operation in Los Angeles, dubbed "Operation Trojan Horse." The operation, which took place around 7 a.m. in the MacArthur Park area, resulted in the arrest of 16 illegal aliens at an LA-area Home Depot.

The DHS, in a statement, defended the operation, asserting that it was targeted at criminal illegal aliens. The operation resulted in the arrest of 6 individuals with startling numbers of convictions, although the exact figures have not been disclosed.

However, Penske has distanced itself from the federal use of its trucks for transporting people in their cargo space, a practice it deems "improper" and against company policy. The company, in a statement, confirmed that it was not informed or consulted about the use of its trucks in the operation.

The DHS operation, involving the concealment of agents inside rental trucks to lure day laborers, has raised concerns in the community and among Los Angeles city officials. The Los Angeles Mayor suggested that the raid might violate a recent federal temporary restraining order against certain immigration enforcement practices in the region.

In response, Penske has outlined future precautions to prevent such misuse of its rental vehicles. These include directly communicating with DHS to remind them of the prohibition against transporting people in cargo areas of rental trucks, strengthening contractual or operational restrictions to prevent government or other agencies from using rentals in a way contravening company policy, and reviewing security and rental monitoring processes to detect and deter improper usage.

Penske's public rebuke underscores the company's commitment to preventing misuse of rental vehicles, especially for operations that may pose safety risks or implicate the company in controversial law enforcement tactics.

Meanwhile, the stock of Penske Automotive Group (PAG) experienced a minor decrease in value following the news. The DHS spokesperson reiterated that federal law enforcement will continue to arrest criminal illegal aliens to keep Americans safe.

Elsewhere, San Diego officials are considering implementing ICE raid training, while DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin discussed the manhunt for an illegal immigrant accused of ramming his car into ICE agents. Former Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf also discussed the reaction to an illegal immigrant accused of killing a New Jersey mother and child in a drunk driving accident.
