In the picturesque town of Bretten, Germany, the annual cycling event has once again proven to be a significant success. This year's event saw a total of 42 teams covering an impressive 225,000 kilometers, setting a new record.
The victorious team, Therapy, cycled an impressive 1,025 kilometers collectively, securing the top spot. The Richard Wolf company from Knittlingen followed closely behind, with 193 cyclists covering 48,554 kilometers to claim second place. The Melanchthon Gymnasium Bretten took the school cycling competition, making a significant contribution to climate protection.
The youngest winners of the event were the members of Team Rio Bikers, born between 2020 and 2018. Melissa Kraus, a student from the Melanchthon Gymnasium Bretten, successfully defended her title from last year, cycling a total of 683.7 kilometers. Nina Maurer from the same team came in third with 1,873.5 kilometers. Yannik Hackebeil from Team Seeburger led the rankings with an impressive 1,901 kilometers.
The event also saw the participation of electric bicycles, with the ladies noting their great advantages. The switch to cycling for short distances and leaving the car at home saved more than 37 tons of CO2, a commendable achievement praised by the mayor.
The oldest participant was Helmut Huber, born in 1940, while the youngest winner was Edeltraut Balzer, born in 1949. The city of Bretten and a local bicycle dealer presented the awards after the event, with the athletes continuing their conversations long after the ceremony.
Two female visitors passing by in the city park commented on the impressive achievement, reflecting the community's pride in the event. Compared to the previous year, the cycling distance increased by almost 50,000 kilometers, demonstrating the growing popularity and success of the event.
