After Parting Ways with Voss-Tecklenburg: DFB's Focus Shifts to Olympic Glory

Celia Sasic, DFB's vice-president, has underscored the importance of the German women's soccer team participating in the 2024 Olympic Games, following the departure of national coach Martin Voss-Tecklenburg. Sasic, an Olympic bronze medalist herself, emphasized the "incredible feeling" of representing her nation alongside athletes from various sports.

The German Football Association (DFB) cut ties with Voss-Tecklenburg, who had recently taken a break, thus ending their collaboration. Assistant coach Britta Carlson took over as head coach after Voss-Tecklenburg's withdrawal due to illness during the World Cup, where the German women were eliminated in the preliminary round. Horst Hrubesch was then appointed as interim coach last October.

"Ready for the Next Games"

"We're all geared up for upcoming competitions," said Sasic. The Germans are facing their toughest challenges in Nations League Group A3, led by Denmark, with whom they lost 2-0 in the first leg. Sasic acknowledged that a victory by a margin of 2-0 or more goals or a 2-0 win in the return leg would see them secure the top spot. Their final preliminary round match is slated for December 5 against the Welsh side, who have yet to earn any points. Only the group winners will secure a spot in the Olympics.

The DFB is determined to see the women's soccer team participate in the 2024 Olympic Games, in the wake of Voss-Tecklenburg's departure. Sasic's experience at the 2008 Olympics highlights the unique "feeling" of representing one's country in such international competitions.

While this article does not include details on the DFB's specific preparations for the 2024 Olympics, further investigation into official DFB announcements, press releases, and reputable sports media sources might provide more insight.
