After a two-decade hiatus, the Battle Chasers series is set to return, promising fresh tales and adventures.
After nearly 20 years since its original launch, the beloved comic series Battle Chasers is making a highly anticipated return. The series, which was originally published by WildStorm Productions, is now under Image Comics.
The upcoming issue, Battle Chasers #10, is set to be released on June 14, both in comic book shops and digitally. The new story arc, titled "Martial Law," takes readers to a dystopian future (2085 A.D.) where the world has been devastated by religious warfare. In this bleak landscape, global powers organise a brutal martial arts tournament, with the winner gaining "Absolute Dominion" for their faith.
The series' creator, Joe Madureira, has expressed that working on the Battle Chasers characters again has healed a part of his soul. He has also shared that he has plans for adaptations of Battle Chasers beyond a return to the comic books.
The story follows Garrison, a legendary swordsman who has put his blade down to mourn the death of his wife. Garrison teams up with Gully, a young girl with magical gloves, Knolan, a wizard, and Calibretto, the giant war golem, to hunt down four powerful villains who have been freed from prison by a rogue named Red Monika. Together, they must battle a gang of supernatural killers named the Martial Paladins.
