"After a lengthy road, the Basedas reap seven DM medals in triumph"

In the recent German Championships in Athletics, the Masters of Athletics team from SV Grün-Weiss Harburg made a notable impact, securing a total of seven medals.

Wiebke Baseda, a standout member of the team, showcased her versatility by participating in the shot put, 300m hurdles, 800m hurdles, and javelin events. Her efforts were rewarded with a silver medal in the shot put, where she achieved a personal best throw of 9.42m. Wiebke also excelled in the hurdles events, winning gold in both the 300m and 800m hurdles.

However, it was not all smooth sailing for Wiebke. In the javelin event, she had to settle for second place, with Anke Iben from LGG Gandersesee clinching the victory with a throw of 26.60m, just 24cm further than Wiebke's effort of 26.58m.

Heinz Baseda, another prominent member of the team, also had a successful outing. Heinz competed in the M70 category and made it to the finals of the 300m hurdles. Despite a strong start, he faced a setback at the final hurdle, losing the lead to Zygmunt Bogdan from Tübingen. Heinz, however, managed to set a new personal best of 54.10 seconds in the 300m hurdles. In the high jump, Heinz had a tough day, with several unsuccessful attempts, eventually settling for bronze.

The team's success did not stop at individual performances. Wiebke, along with Karin Grummert, Caecilia Apel-Kranz, and Ingeborg Thoma, combined to win the 4x100m relay event for SV Grün-Weiss Harburg.

Looking ahead, Wiebke and Heinz Baseda will represent SV Grün-Weiss Harburg at the North German Masters Championships, which will take place later this month in Brandenburg's Rathenow. Wiebke will undoubtedly be aiming to defend her hurdles titles, while Heinz will be looking to build on his strong performance at the German Championships.

Despite the absence of any notable achievements at the German Championships in Athletics in their past, Wiebke and Heinz Baseda have certainly established themselves as formidable competitors in the Masters category. Their determination, skill, and resilience are sure to make them ones to watch in the upcoming North German Masters Championships.

Wiebke and Heinz Baseda, despite not participating in other sports like football, showcased their athletic prowess at the upcoming North German Masters Championships, where they aim to defend their titles in their respective events. Previously, they made a notable impact in the German Championships in Athletics, demonstrating their determination, skill, and resilience in various sports such as the shot put, hurdles, javelin, high jump, and relay races.
