AfricaWeb and GFA Form Collaborative Partnership Agreement
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has inked a three-year content partnership agreement with AfricaWeb Holding, the proprietors of GhanaWeb.com, CameroonWeb.com, MyNigeria.com, and TanzaniaWeb.com.
Under the mutually advantageous agreement, the GFA and AfricaWeb will collaborate to share engaging content designed to cater to the needs of Ghanaians domestically and abroad. In turn, the GFA will have exclusive slots on all AfricaWeb platforms across Africa for strategic promotion of its content, sponsors, and commercial partners.
AfricaWeb, in collaboration with Age Media Africa, will also collaborate with the GFA to optimize its digital channels as a financially rewarding option. Moreover, the partnership will address copyright infringement against the original content produced by the football association.
YouTube videos from the GFA will be featured on a dedicated GhanaWeb TV page to boost viewership, and events and live GFA matches will be streamed on GhanaWeb TV, with updates relayed through the digital channels to potentially reach millions of Ghanaian viewers.
The partnership was solidified on June 20, 2022, following several weeks of discussions. GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq., who signed on behalf of the association, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that it would propel the FA into a new phase of digital growth.
The partnership signing took place at the Ghana FA headquarters, with the CEO of AfricaWeb, the parent company of GhanaWeb, Marc Stubbé, expressing his excitement. With the 2022 FIFA World Cup set to take place in Qatar in November/December 2022, Stubbé mentioned that the timing of the partnership was opportune, as it will enable sharing of exciting content and new ideas ahead of the tournament.
Representatives from various departments of both the GFA and AfricaWeb attended the meeting.
