Africa's RegTech Conference Unites Global Leaders for a Borderless Economy
The 2026 RegTech Africa Conference & Expo will take place in Abuja from 20th to 22nd May. Organised under the patronage of Nigeria's Vice President, the event aims to unite global leaders in policy, finance, and technology. Its focus is on shaping trusted digital financial systems and boosting cross-border trade.
The conference, themed 'Building Trust, Infrastructure and Policy for a Borderless Economy', will feature high-level discussions, investment opportunities, and a startup competition with a $1,000,000 prize.
The three-day event is a collaboration between the Office of the Vice President, the Presidential Committee on Economic & Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI), and the Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA). It will host thousands of attendees from Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America.
Delegates can expect strategic ministerial dialogues, executive roundtables, and technology showcases. Investment-focused breakout sessions and curated networking platforms will also form part of the programme. A key highlight is the Global Startup World Cup Tournament – Regional Challenge, where African startups will pitch to an international panel for a chance to win $1,000,000 in funding.
GIABA, one of the event's partners, has not launched specific RegTech initiatives in West Africa over the past five years. However, it has supported broader digital financial inclusion through workshops and training. Recent efforts include a 2023 regional session on virtual assets and 2024 preparations for FATF mutual evaluations, both emphasising technology adoption in financial compliance.
Sponsorship and partnership opportunities are open to public and private sector organisations, multinational corporations, and tech firms. Registration is now live, with further details available at www.regtechafricaconference.com. Interested parties can also contact [email protected] for enquiries.
The conference will provide a platform for policymakers, investors, and innovators to address digital trust and financial infrastructure. With a $1,000,000 prize for startups and high-profile discussions, it seeks to accelerate cross-border economic collaboration. Organisers anticipate strong participation from global stakeholders in finance, regulation, and technology.
