African Contenders of Call of Duty: Mobile Competition, Carry1st Africa Cup, Open Doorway to World Championship 2025

The Carry1st Africa Cup, Africa's leading esports tournament, is set to return for the Call of Duty®: Mobile World Championship 2025. This year's edition expands to include players from seven African regions and offers a Wildcard Slot for countries like Mauritius and Tunisia, reinforcing Carry1st's commitment to wider inclusivity.

Over 200 teams and 1,000+ players are expected to participate in the tournament, which runs from May to July, culminating in a LAN Grand Final in Lagos, Nigeria in August. The tournament is officially recognized by Activision as a qualifier for the World Championship 2025, offering African gamers the chance to qualify for the global event with a $1,000,000 prize pool.

How it works for African gamers:

The Carry1st Africa Cup works as a continental esports tournament where top African teams compete regionally to qualify for the grand final. Teams from various African regions participate in online qualifiers organized by Carry1st and Activision to earn a spot in the continental finals. A wildcard qualifier stage involves a round-robin group stage followed by playoffs, with matches being best-of-five and using core COD Mobile modes. The wildcard winner secures the last spot in the Africa Cup Finals.

Eight top teams from regional qualifiers and the wildcard compete in a LAN event in Lagos, Nigeria. The winner of the grand finals earns Africa’s first official slot to represent the continent at the global Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2025.

Requirements to participate:

Teams must be composed of African players competing in regional qualifiers or wildcard tournaments. Registration for the Carry1st Africa Cup opens on May 3rd on their website. Participation typically requires registration through the Carry1st platform and adherence to official Call of Duty: Mobile competitive rules.

Jeffrey Gullett, Co-Head of Call of Duty: Mobile at Activision, added that the tournament is a major moment for African esports. Guillaume Noé, VP of Growth at Carry1st, stated that gamers are competing for the chance to play against the world's best.

The prize pool for the tournament is $15,000, and Carry1st will cover travel costs for qualifying teams. The tournament is brought by Africa's leading games publisher, Carry1st.

Regional qualifiers for the tournament will be held every weekend from May to July. The regional group stages and playoffs will determine which teams head to Lagos for the LAN Grand Final. The winner of the tournament earns Africa's only slot in the global finals, where $1 million is up for grabs.

Teams participating in the tournament must have at least 5 players and 1 sub. The Carry1st Africa Cup for Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2025 promises to be an exciting event for African esports fans, offering a chance for African gamers to make their mark on the global stage.
