On the left side of the image, there is a table with various objects on it, and in the background, there are photo frames on the wall, windows, curtains, and a door. The men appear to be engaged in conversation, with one of them, presumably the Prime Minister of Pakistan, visiting India.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh seek stronger trade ties at Dhaka fair

A delegation from Afghanistan’s commerce and industry ministry recently visited Bangladesh to strengthen trade ties. Led by Ahmadullah Zahid, deputy minister of industry and commerce, the group met with Bangladeshi officials during the Dhaka International Trade Fair. Both sides explored ways to expand bilateral cooperation.

The Afghan government highlighted its interest in boosting trade and identifying new areas of partnership with Bangladesh. During the discussions, proposals included increasing trade volume through preferential agreements and facilitating exports of medicines and textiles to Afghanistan.

Bangladesh’s commerce secretary, Mahbubur Rahman, welcomed the delegation and expressed satisfaction with the growing relations between the two nations. He advised the Afghan officials to address trade concerns through diplomatic channels and engage directly with local businesses. The talks also covered plans to appoint trade attachés in both countries, aiming to streamline commercial exchanges. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Dhaka International Trade Fair, where broader economic opportunities were discussed.

The discussions marked a step toward deeper economic collaboration between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Specific measures, such as preferential trade deals and the appointment of trade representatives, were proposed to enhance commercial relations. Both sides now look to formalise these agreements in the coming months.
