Interview with Nicholus Okach Ondego, the Powerhouse Behind Omoh Homes

We sat down with Nicholus Okach Ondego, the driving force behind Omoh Homes, to talk about his journey, the company's mission, and its future growth. Here's what he had to say.

The Man Behind the Curtain

Kicking off the interview, we asked for an in-depth look at Nicholus' background and his companies. "I'm an architect by trade with a strong investment and financial background," he explained. "I'm also the Group Executive Director – East African Region for the Royal Address Limited and a member of the Board. In addition, I serve as Managing Director for two companies, Omoh Group Holding Limited and Nix Capital Group Limited."

He continued, "With the multi-billion-dollar investment funding I've secured, my objective is to tackle the housing crisis across Africa through Omoh Homes. We're developing the One Member One House Affordable Housing program, which aims to construct houses in 35 African countries."

A Leader with a Passion

Next, we asked Nicholus about the goals and strengths of Omoh Homes. "Our primary goal is to make homeownership a reality for the masses in Africa," he said, "by leveraging cutting-edge technology and implementing sustainable methods to minimize construction costs."

From Grassroots to the Penthouse

We then delved into the path that led Nicholus to where he is today. "During my early employment years as an assistant architect, I'd tirelessly work on projects only for them to be shelved due to lack of funds," he shared. "This experience inspired me to venture into project finance, with a focus on projects that wouldn't just generate profits but also provide meaningful impact."

Rooted in Family Values

Inspired by his personal experiences, Nicholus started Omoh Homes to address the housing crisis in Africa. "I lost my family home to auctioneers when a business venture failed, but this fortuitous incident set me on a path to tackle the housing crisis in Africa and redeem my father's lost investment through OMOH Homes."

Overcoming Challenges

Throughout his journey, Nicholus has faced numerous obstacles. "The most crucial attribute for any leader is the 'can-do mentality,'" he said. "Challenges test your resolve to see if you can persist despite the hurdles and attain your goals."

Changing the Narrative

When asked about the unique aspect of Omoh Homes' vision, Nicholus replied, "OMOH HOMES aims to change the narrative surrounding homeownership, demonstrating that low-income earners can access quality housing."

Resilience and Optimism

Nicholus has faced countless challenges, but he remains optimistic. "I view each challenge as an opportunity to test one's resolve and strive towards achieving dreams against all odds," he said.

He reminisced on a memorable incident in his entrepreneurial journey, "I received my first award as the OMOH HOMES, CEO at the Digitally Fit Awards as the Person of the Year in the Real Estate Visionaries category and at the 8th Edition Real Estate 100 Awards."

Looking to the Future

As for the future of Omoh Homes, Nicholus is aiming high. "We're in the process of preparing for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) at the New York Stock Exchange within the next two years," he revealed.

Empowering Communities

In a competitive market, Nicholus believes that Omoh Homes stands out by "giving the lower-middle class access to quality and decent housing at no extra cost, with a significant impact on a country like Kenya, where the annual housing deficit is 250,000 against a supply of just 50,000."

A Lasting Legacy

As our discussion drew to a close, we asked Nicholus if he had any final words for our viewers. "Every individual has a purpose and unlimited potential," he said earnestly. "It's our personal responsibility to live our lives to the fullest and die with a sense of fulfillment."
