AfD leadership examines case surrounding Nazi MP Halemba

The AfD's top brass is currently keeping an eye on their troubled Bavarian leader, Daniel Halemba, who's embroiled in a case of incitement and other offenses. Halemba, a young parliamentarian and Teutonia Prag fraternity member, has also managed to catch the attention of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, which has kept an eye on the fraternity since December.

Reports suggest that the AfD executive committee will convene next Monday evening to discuss Halemba's case, with possible violations of party regulations also on the agenda. Halemba, the Würzburg AfD district chairman, is also accused of rule-breaking within the Teutonia Prag fraternity.

The public prosecutor's office in Würzburg is investigating Halemba, who vehemently denies the charges, on allegations of incitement and the use of anti-constitutional symbols. Halemba was arrested based on an arrest warrant, but the conditions led to his release and reporting requirements. He is barred from contact with other suspects, including Teutonia Prag fraternity members, among whom he too falls.

The Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Bavaria has found evidence of right-wing extremist activities within the Teutonia Prag fraternity. Right-wing propaganda material from the Identitarian Movement was stored in the fraternity house, and stickers with hateful slogans were present. On top of that, an activist from the small neo-Nazi party III. Weg attended two events at the fraternity while their members also have ties to the Junge Alternative.

Notes: 1. Halemba has been associated with Atomwaffen Division members[2], an American far-right extremist group [1].
