AFC Toronto Remains atop the Northern Super League Standings

After Week 16 of the 2025 Northern Super League season, AFC Toronto continues to lead the pack with a commanding 32 points, four points clear of second-placed Montreal Roses FC. Ottawa Rapid FC and Calgary Wild FC follow in third and fifth place, respectively.

In a thrilling match on Saturday, AFC Toronto defeated Montreal Roses FC 2-1, with Nikayla Small and Kaylee Hunter finding the back of the net for the home team in the 24th and 37th minutes, respectively. Stephanie Hill scored a consolation goal for Montreal in first-half injury time, but they were unable to mount a comeback.

Meanwhile, Calgary Wild FC secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Ottawa Rapid FC, thanks to a goal from Jackie Sawicki in the 77th minute. The match at TD Place saw Calgary improve to a record of 5-8-2, while Ottawa remains four points behind Montreal with a game in hand.

In another Northern Super League match on Saturday, the Wild defeated Rapid 1-0, with the only goal coming from the home team. The Vancouver Rise controlled possession in the match, holding the ball for 57% of the time, but were unable to find the back of the net. The Rise were outshot 14-12, but led in on-target shots 5-3.

The final head-to-head matchup between Toronto and Montreal will take place on October 18 in Toronto, with both teams having won two head-to-head matchups this season.

The Halifax Tides and Vancouver Rise played to a 0-0 draw at Wanderers Grounds, with each team taking three corners apiece. Anika Toth of the Halifax Tides and Morgan McAslan of the Vancouver Rise each recorded clean sheets in the match.

The top four teams advance to playoffs, so Calgary is currently outside playoff contention.
