"Aesop's Queer Library highlights notable literature, free bookmarking available"
From the 3rd to the 6th of July 2025, Aesop's Queer Library will transform their Soho store at 41 Lexington Street, London W1F 9AJ, into a vibrant literary haven. This annual event is a testament to LGBTQIA+ culture and the transformative power of queer storytelling.
For four days, the store will be a treasure trove of books, curated to showcase works by and about queer and LGBTQIA+ individuals. The initiative aims to amplify underrepresented voices, particularly those of trans and non-binary authors, as part of its commitment to LGBTQIA+ self-expression and the broadening of perspectives through literature.
Visitors are encouraged to select a complimentary book from the collection (while supplies last), with no purchase necessary. The event is free and open to all, fostering a welcoming environment for everyone to engage in creative storytelling.
This year, the event introduces an interactive literary card game, inspired by Aesop's fable 'The North Wind and the Sun'. The game highlights themes of gentle persuasion and strength, inviting participants to engage in a playful and imaginative exploration of these concepts.
The event features a diverse array of queer voices from around the world, curated in collaboration with Gay's The Word, London's longstanding queer independent bookstore. Notable authors include Chukwuebuka Ibeh, Audre Lorde, Dean Atta, Juno Roche, Kate Davies, Shon Faye, and Charlie Porter. The hero title for 2025 is *Marsha* by artist and activist Tourmaline, a biography of revolutionary activist Marsha P. Johnson, with a complimentary audiobook of the title also available to visitors.
The Aesop Queer Library pop-up is more than just a literary event; it's an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of queer literature, engage in creative storytelling, and participate in a unique literary card game. It's a celebration of the power of words, the resilience of the human spirit, and the enduring legacy of queer storytelling.
