In the turbulent month of August 2025, the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don experienced a series of drone attacks, causing injuries and property damage.

On August 14, a reported Ukrainian drone strike hit an apartment building in Rostov-on-Don, resulting in two individuals being wounded. The condition of these individuals, as reported by Yury Slyusar, the acting governor of the Rostov region, is serious. The location of the wounded individuals was a local medical institution.

The incident was confirmed by Slyusar on his Telegram channel, and the news was also reported by various media outlets. The location of the drone strike was not specified, but it took place within the city boundaries.

In a more recent development on August 27, a Ukrainian drone crash caused a fire on the roof of an apartment building on Khalturinsky Lane in Rostov-on-Don. While the fire was quickly contained, heightened security measures and ongoing armed clashes are expected in the area following the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this instance.

Earlier in August, drone strikes in southern Russia, including Rostov-on-Don, caused a total of 13 hospitalizations. Videos from the city showed drones crashing into urban areas, causing explosions and smoke. The exact number of casualties, other than the two wounded individuals, remains unclear.

The series of drone attacks in Rostov-on-Don underscores the ongoing tensions in the region and the potential for further escalation. As the situation continues to develop, updates will be provided as they become available.
