Latest on Florian Wirtz's Transfer Saga

In a significant development in the transfer saga of Florian Wirtz, Liverpool has submitted an offer reportedly worth over €100 million, including performance-related add-ons, for the 22-year-old midfielder. The Premier League champions aim to strengthen their squad in preparation for the upcoming season under manager Arne Slot.

National team coach Julian Nagelsmann has expressed his support for Wirtz's potential move to Liverpool, stating, "If it's Liverpool, which we don't know yet, it's a good step for him because he can play in his position there. There's a super environment, a super club."

Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, too, have been notified of Wirtz's intention to leave for Anfield. Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director, Max Eberl, informed Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer that Wirtz is leaning towards Liverpool.

Despite missing out on Wirtz, Bayern Munich is not overly troubled by the potential loss. Coach Julian Nagelsmann stated, "Bayern would've been fine too. But they're two players who find each other on the national team level even if they don't play for the same club."

Former national team player Dietmar Hamann applauded Liverpool's tactful approach in negotiations, expressing that it was "impressive, how they handled it: discreetly, quietly, everything behind the scenes. On the other hand, there was FC Bayern."

As negotiations continue between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen, the transfer fee could potentially rise to €150 million, which would surpass Liverpool's current record transfer payment.
