Adventure for young sea enthusiasts: trekking aboard cutters and yachts

The Anklam and Wolgast Sailing Clubs recently embarked on an eight-day cruise for their youth members, marking a significant event for the Anklam Sailing Club's junior members. This unique voyage, which took place between the Peene River and the waters off Rügen, aimed not only at honing sailing skills but also at fostering camaraderie and shared experiences.

The convoy, composed of a sailing yacht, three cutters, and barges, was a spectacle in every harbor they visited, drawing the interest of onlookers. The group included 14 children and 8 adults, who had the opportunity to be on all boats depending on the weather.

The cruising route took them to Peenemünde on Usedom, the harbor of Gager on the Rügen peninsula of Mönchgut, Stralsund, and Krummin. During the Gager leg of the cruise, there was no strict schedule, with the focus instead being on shared activities. These included cooking together, described as a "great moment" by Ronny Neukirch, the chief of the Anklam Sailing Club.

The highlight of the cruise was the regatta at the "Blue Ribbon of Stralsund," which concluded the voyage. Ronny Neukirch reported that they placed fifth, tenth, and thirteenth out of over 20 boats, demonstrating the skill and teamwork displayed by the young sailors.

The cooperation between the two clubs in the youth sector was successful once again during this cruise. Ronny Neukirch was particularly pleased with how much the young people enjoyed cutter sailing during the cruise. He also mentioned that they received a lot of positive feedback from other people about the cruise. According to him, everyone involved is certain that the cruise will be repeated next year.

The group was warmly welcomed in all the harbors they visited during the cruise. This joint sailing adventure not only provided a platform for young sailors to develop their skills but also offered an opportunity for cultural exchange and friendship building among the participants.
