Olympique de Marseille Transfer Saga: The Altercation at Roazhon Park

Olympique de Marseille (OM) has made headlines with the transfer of star player Adrien Rabiot, but the decision was not influenced by a heated altercation that took place in the "visitors" locker room of the Roazhon Park in Rennes.

The altercation, which occurred after a 0-1 defeat against Stade Rennais, was a response to recent heavy defeats, such as the 1-3 loss against AJ Auxerre at the Velodrome on November 8 and the 1-3 loss in Reims on April 29. Gerónimo Rulli, the OM goalkeeper, was the one who initiated the altercation with attacker Jonathan Rowe.

Despite the altercation, teammates tried to intervene and calm the situation, and there were no reported injuries or suspensions. The club did not publicly address the incident after it occurred, and it did not lead to any disciplinary action against the players involved.

The target of Rabiot's substitute goalkeeper, Obed Nkambadio, was not involved in the Rennes altercation, according to records. Nkambadio has become more prominent in OM since Rabiot was put on the transfer market, but there is no evidence to suggest he was involved in the incident on August 15, 2022.

OM stands to recover around twenty million euros from Rabiot's transfer, ten months before the end of his contract. The transfer is due to a salary that is considered XXL. The club has been accused of manipulation and opportunism in their decision to transfer Rabiot, but they maintain that the altercation did not influence their decision.

The club has taken the decision to communicate about the transfer affair, and they state that the altercation did not affect the team's performance in subsequent matches. OM fans will be eager to see how the team performs in the new season, with Rabiot no longer a part of the squad.
