Adidas has unveiled the away kits for the 2026 World Cup, drawing inspiration from 1990s designs. Teams like Argentina, Spain, and Scotland will wear the new styles, each featuring bold departures from their traditional colours. The kits will be showcased by stars such as Lionel Messi, Lamine Yamal, and Scott McTominay during the tournament.
Argentina's away kit moves away from the usual light blue and white stripes, marking a rare change for the two-time champions. Messi, set to captain the side in what may be his final World Cup, will lead a squad packed with talent, including Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez, and Nico Paz. The team enters the tournament as one of the favourites.
Spain's kit also breaks from tradition, swapping red for a fresh design. Their squad features rising stars like Yamal and Nico Williams, alongside experienced players such as Rodri and Fermin Lopez. Like Argentina, they are tipped as strong contenders for the title. Scotland's away strip takes cues from the iconic orange hue of *Irn Bru*, a nod to national culture. Midfielder Scott McTominay will wear the kit as the team competes on football's biggest stage. Germany's design, meanwhile, combines deep blue and türkis with a zigzag pattern, replacing their usual white. Under manager Julian Nagelsmann, they boast a formidable lineup, including Florian Wirtz and Serge Gnabry. Other nations with adidas away kits include Mexico, Colombia, and Japan, each adopting unique colour schemes. Mexico's contrasts its traditional green, Colombia's replaces yellow with a new look, and Japan's shifts from blue. Belgium, Wales, Italy, and Ukraine are among the 18 additional teams featuring the 90s-inspired designs.
