In a notable turn of events, a 32-year-old man named Rasaq Gafar was arraigned at the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates' Court in Ibadan for allegedly threatening the life of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke. The offences, as stated, violate Sections 249(D) and 323 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The alleged threats were made on July 12 in Ibadan through social media posts. The prosecutor of the case, Matthew Ojei, is handling the proceedings.
Meanwhile, Rasaq Gafar's bail conditions require two sureties in like sum. One of these sureties must own a landed property, while the other should be a blood relative of the defendant. Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted Gafar bail for ₦2.5 million. The case has been adjourned to November 13 for a hearing.
