Adeleke Remains Loyal to PDP, Claims Spokesperson

Putting an end to the swirling speculations, the governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has snapped back at claims suggesting he's plotting a move to the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos.

His spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, didn't mince words when he dished out a statement Wednesday, branding the conjectures as baseless and completely unfounded.

A torrent of photos revealing Governor Adeleke, his elder brother, Deji Adeleke, and music mogul Davido (a.k.a. Davido) at President Tinubu's swanky Ikoyi residence on Tuesday sent social media into a frenzy, sparking rumors of a political overhaul.

However, Rasheed set the record straight, asserting that the visit was purely a familial courtesy call devoid of any political undertone.

In the statement, Rasheed stated, "Media hype about a potential or imminent defection is pure fiction.

"Governor Adeleke remains a dependable member and leader of the PDP in Osun State. The outing of the Adeleke clan to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is nothing more than a customary courtesy visit. Any attempt to spin a defection narrative from this visit is simply fiction."

In the meantime, the Osun State chapter of the APC has shut down any suggestions of embracing Governor Adeleke into their mix, insisting that their 2026 gubernatorial nomination is not for sale.

Speaking to the press, the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, left no room for misinterpretation, stating, "I'm unequivocally stating that the APC ticket is off the market.

"At present, we don't perceive Adeleke as an APC member or associate. The APC in Osun is the dominant force to reckon with."

Furthermore, Owoeye accused the Adeleke family and the PDP of being trembling in fear as they brace themselves for the 2026 gubernatorial race.

He went on to say, "Now that the Adeleke family has come face to face with the reality of their impending expiration date, come August 8, 2026, we are pushing the PDP out of Osun's government. There's no space for PDP or Adeleke in the APC."
