Adeleke Gathers with Ex-Governor Oyinlola and Osun Political Figures; Shares Insights on Potential Switch from PDP to APC

In no uncertain terms, Governor Ademola Adeleke has put the kibosh on rumors swirling around his potential defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). "I ain't going nowhere! I'm still here, standing tall for the PDP," he declared at a high-octane gathering with key party stakeholders last night, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo.

This fervent denial comes after whispers of a possible switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or other political parties, which Ademolekai claimed were mere concoctions propagated by those disheartened by the PDP's exceptional performance under his leadership.

No Room for Deception

The meeting—attended by party elders, federal and state lawmakers, and prominent PDP leaders from across Osun State—provided the perfect platform for Ademolekai to set the record straight. "Forget that noise. I'm not jumping ship," he affirmed, dismissing the deceitful speculations as "fake news spawned by folks who can't handle our triumphant run in governance."

Unyielding Party Unity

In solidarity, the esteemed Former Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola addressed the audience virtually, while other PDP stalwarts present included Prof Wale Oladipo, Chairman of the Imole Movement; Senator Oluwole Alabi, a life member of the PDP Board of Trustees; and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Lasun Yusuf.

Akanni Olohunwa, representing PDP members in the Federal House of Representatives, lauded Ademolekai's accomplishments, stating that the PDP is positioned to triumph in future elections.

Firm Endorsement for Second Term

Following heated deliberations, the meeting, presided over by State PDP Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi, issued an official communiqué:

  • A vote of confidence in Governor Adeleke for his equitable and efficient leadership;
  • Re-endorsement of him as the sole PDP candidate for the 2026 governorship election;
  • Praise for his steadfast commitment to the PDP;
  • Acclamation of the party’s measured handling of the local government leadership crisis;
  • Hail to party officials and stakeholders from Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency for standing firm against recent defections.

The stakeholders expressed hope that the national leadership of the PDP would expeditiously tackle its internal squabbles, remerging stronger before the 2027 general elections.

The communiqué was rubber-stamped by Hon Sunday Bisi, while the Governor's spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, confirmed the meeting's resolutions.
