Stormy Morning Commute: S-Bahn and Regional Routes Disrupted in Berlin

Additional S-Bahn and regional train services halted - Additional S-Bahn and regional train services suspended

Brace yourself, Berlin commuters! Despite the calm one might expect after a stormy night, disruptions on the city's public transport system are still in full swing. Especially in the city's northern regions, several S-Bahn sections remain closed.

A railway spokesperson reported early in the morning, "After the storm, we've got some fallen trees blocking the tracks. Once we clear the debris, we'll reopen those sections."

The S9 line has resumed service, reaching Spandau, while the S1 is gearing up for a revival between Birkenwerder and Oranienburg, likely before 8 am, as per the S-Bahn's announcements on "X." Yet, it ends at Schönholz in Berlin, with a replacement bus running from there to Hohen Neuendorf. On the S25 line, bus replacements are the only option for passengers between Hennigsdorf and Tegel.

Lines S26 and S85 remain completely suspended, while the S3 only ventures from Erkner to Charlottenburg, and the S8 journeys between Wildau or Grünau and Schönfließ. Even long-distance traffic has a hitch, as the route between Hamburg and Berlin is only operating single-track between Berlin and Hannover.

Unfortunately, the RB10 line, connecting Nauen to Berlin-Sudkreuz, is also out of commission, as is the RE4 on the Spandau-Buschow route, with a replacement service in place on the affected section. There are also cancellations or delays on the lines RE6, RB20, RB21, and RB55.

While it's true that storms last night may have contributed to some of these disruptions, there are ongoing construction activities that have been affecting services as well. For instance, the stop at Wollankstraße is cancelled until 2027, and there are interval changes on the Strausberg Nord – Strausberg route until July 11, 2025. Additionally, timetable adjustments have been made for the Hohen Neuendorf to Oranienburg line between June 27 and July 24, 2025. The Blankenburg to Bernau route lacks S-Bahn service and relies on rail replacement buses until June 30, 2025.

For lines S9 and S45, disruptions are expected from July 4 to 7, 2025, due to construction, while the RB22 (Potsdam – Königs Wusterhausen via BER Airport) won't operate from June 28 to July 4, 2025, with a rail replacement bus service.

So, keep an eye on the latest updates from the Verkehrsverbund Berlin Brandenburg (VBB) or the S-Bahn Berlin website to navigate these choppy commute waters. Hey, at least the weather's on our side now!

In the context of ongoing disruptions on Berlin's public transport system due to fallen trees and constant construction activities, it is essential for commuters to stay informed about the latest changes in the community policy, particularly for the S9, S45, and RB22 lines, as well as the S-Bahn Berlin services. The general-news regarding the stormy night in Berlin has also influenced some of these disruptions, but it seems the weather has cleared up now, offering a slight reprieve.
