ADC Youths Vow to Overpower APC Severely by 2027: Expect Retaliation in Kind
The African Democratic Youth Congress (ADYC), the vanguard of a new movement within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is making waves in Nigerian politics. Led by National Coordinator, Mrs Ruqayya Lamido Dodo, and Director General, Murtala Haliru Dantoro, the ADYC is on a mission to re-engineer Nigeria's political landscape.
The ADYC's mandate is clear: to champion transparency, accountability, and radical inclusion. They are mobilizing from the grassroots up, empowering young people in their communities to become agents of change. This grassroots approach is complemented by a strategic use of both traditional outreach and modern digital tools, ensuring that their message reaches every young Nigerian.
Mrs Dodo, in a recent address, declared that the ADYC is not just changing the narrative, but building the nation today, not waiting for tomorrow. She emphasized that the ADYC is not a youth wing, but the vanguard of a new movement.
Recently, Murtala Haliru Dantoro condemned the conduct of the August 16 bye-elections across the country, particularly in Niger State. Vote buying, a practice he described as criminal, occurred for as low as N2,000 during these elections, a practice he finds deplorable. He expressed the importance of people knowing that their decisions are baseless when they are forced upon them.
The ADYC's strategy to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections centers on intensifying political groundwork, expanding grassroots support, and leveraging prominent political figures aligned with the party. The ADC has been active in expanding its influence, especially in key states like Lagos, by inducting new members across local government areas to build a stronger base ahead of the elections.
Former Minister of Transport, Chibu Amichchi, representing ADC, has publicly expressed confidence in defeating President Tinubu if he secures the ADC presidential ticket. Amichchi has also promised constitutional reforms and an anti-corruption push within his first month if elected.
The ADYC is setting up local chapters and organizing community development projects that tackle real-world problems. They are ready to match any strategy or measure adopted by the APC to ensure victory. Despite some rumors, some ADC leaders have rejected coalition narratives, asserting independent party control, which might reflect strategic positioning or attempts to consolidate youth and party unity.
In a bold move, the ADYC has insisted that even if President Tinubu appoints Bayo Onanuga as a replacement for Professor Mahmood Yakubu, whose tenure as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) expires in December, the APC would be defeated at the polls in 2027.
The ADYC, under the leadership of Mrs Dodo and Murtala Haliru Dantoro, is positioning itself as a formidable force in Nigerian politics. With a focus on grassroots mobilization, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to transparency and accountability, the ADYC is poised to make a significant impact in the years to come.
