ADC Opposition Infiltration Accusations Against APC: High-Ranking APC Member Claims Party's Strategy to Undermine 2027 Rivals

In a series of allegations, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Abdullahi Umar, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to destabilize and infiltrate opposition parties.

Umar claimed that the APC, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is trying to crush dissent ahead of the 2027 general elections. He accused unpatriotic elements, such as Mr Dumebi Kachikwu and Alhaji Nafiu Bala, of being involved in the APC's infiltration of the ADC.

However, Umar did not accuse any new individuals, including Dino Melaye or any other unpatriotic elements, of being involved in this infiltration in this specific instance.

The ADC, according to Umar, is not a party that should be underrated by the APC. He stated that the leadership transfer within the party has been done according to the party's constitution, recognizing leaders like Senator David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, and other major stakeholders.

Umar also alleged that the APC has resorted to desperate measures to dismantle other political parties. He questioned why President Tinubu is trying to dislodge opposition parties instead of testing his popularity in a free, fair, and open contest during elections.

This is not the first time such allegations have been made. Senator Dino Melaye, a former PDP lawmaker who defected to the ADC, accused the APC of turning the PDP into essentially a "parastatal" or department of the APC, controlling its internal affairs and leadership decisions.

A coalition of opposition groups has also publicly condemned what they describe as "blatant destabilisation and infiltration of all major opposition political parties" by the APC with the objective of enhancing total state capture and eliminating alternatives for the 2027 elections.

Despite these infiltration attempts, Umar emphasized that the ADC remains a strong alternative platform for Nigerians. He urged citizens to reject the ruling party's tactics and support the ADC's leadership.

These developments reflect significant concerns among opposition leaders about the APC's strategies to undermine opposition unity and strength ahead of the upcoming general elections.
