Her breakout role was as Jennifer Marlowe on the hit sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati (1978–1982), a role that earned her two Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe nominations.

Anderson's career spanned from 1978 to 1982 in the television industry. Beyond WKRP in Cincinnati, she made guest appearances on popular shows such as The Love Boat, Three’s Company, Melrose Place, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Anderson was married four times and is survived by her husband, Bob Flick, her daughter Deidra Hoffman, her adopted son Quinton, whom she shared with Burt Reynolds, and two grandchildren.
