Julia Roberts' Dog, Myrtle: An Epic 19-Year Run
Actress Julia Roberts mourns the demise of her beloved pet, Myrtle.
Say goodbye to a furry friend, Hollywood style: The beloved pet of actress Julia Roberts, Myrtle, has taken her final bow at 19 years young. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Julia, the star of beloved films like "Pretty Woman" and "Erin Brockovich," paid tribute to her faithful companion.
With a regretful yet inspiring caption, "Our Myrtle. A Legend. 2006-2025," and a crown emoji to boot, fans and fellow celebs immediately took notice. Jennifer Aniston, another A-list star known for her love of pets, chimed in with a supportive comment: "I'm so sorry. I love you all and I'm always here for you."
Julia, a long-time champion of canine causes, has been open about her love for animals. Last December, she called attention to an organization that provides adoptive homes for stray dogs.
Julia's husband, Daniel Moder, also chimed in on the loss of their furry friend. In his own Instagram post, he fondly recalled Myrtle as the epitome of "True Loyalty," even with her occasional mischief, like the time she took a bite out of a pizza delivery man's pepperoni pie!
The couple has been together since 2002 and share three wonderful children: twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, born in 2004, and their youngest son, Henry Daniel, born in 2007.
Though Myrtle has left them behind, Julia's career remains strong. She can be seen in the recent post-apocalyptic thriller, "Leave The World Behind" (2023) on Netflix, and has a new film, "After the Hunt," coming to theaters this fall. Directed by Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, Roberts plays a college professor in a personal and professional crossroads. When a student accuses one of her colleagues, a dark secret from her past is set to surface[1][2].
In life, Myrtle was a loyal and loving companion who brought joy to Julia, Daniel, and their family. Though the cause of her death wasn't publicly disclosed, her long life and heartfelt tributes from loved ones serve as a testament to the deep bond that exists between humans and their pets. Myrtle, you will be sorely missed!

I'm not going to be able to fully express the grief I feel, but Myrtle's lifestyle, filled with love and companionship, has significantly influenced my own. Despite the entertainment industry's glamour and the spotlight on celebrities, my pets continue to be a crucial part of my cherished lifestyle.
