Actress Jenna Ortega Expresses Longing for Privacy She Previously Enjoyed Prior to 'Wednesday' Role

Casual chit-chat with Jenna Ortega reveals her nostalgic yearnings for the good ol' days before she skyrocketed to fame. Since her breakout role as Wednesday Addams in Tim Burton's Netflix series, the actress has landed leading roles in blockbusters such as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Death of a Unicorn, and Winter Spring Summer or Fall.

In an exclusive interview with The Weeknd for V Magazine, the music superstar asked Ortega if she yearned for her anonymity. "Most definitely," Ortega admitted. "It wasn't until Wednesday that everything exploded, and while I'm grateful, and it was a dream role, it was such a relief to have less pressure back then."

Ortega fondly recalled the struggles and excitement of her come-up in the industry. "I loved the hustle," she confessed. "There's something about the actor's climb and grind that I really enjoyed. Sleeping in cars, driving all around LA for auditions, and waiting for weeks on end – it was all so thrilling!"

Of course, Ortega wasn't always a household name. Before Wednesday, her star was on the rise with pivotal roles in horror thrillers like Scream and Scream VI. However, pre-Addams Family, she experienced a mix of fear and exhilaration.

"I don't know if it's common, or if you can relate to this, but it feels like you're stuck in this loop of anxiety," Ortega shared. "I carry so much more pressure and weight in my body now, and I think it's just part of the expectation that comes with fame."

Ortega will next appear on the big screen in Hurry Up Tomorrow, opposite Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye. The film, set to hit theaters on May 16, tells the story of a musician who encounters a mysterious stranger, leading him on a journey that challenges his self-perception.

As for Ortega's future projects, a fan-made concept trailer pairs her with Daniel Radcliffe in a gothic horror project. However, this is not an official production—no studio backing or release details exist beyond the speculative YouTube video. On a more concrete note, her upcoming film Winter Spring Summer or Fall, where she plays Remi, is set to premiere theatrically and digitally on April 25, 2025.

Other potential projects may be in the works, but as of now, these are the only upcoming films that can be confirmed from available sources. Keep an eye out for Jenna Ortega's return as Wednesday Addams in Season 2, premiering on Netflix on August 6 and concluding on September 3.
