Catherine Zeta-Jones Continues to Shine in Musical Performances

Catherine Zeta-Jones, the Welsh actress who won an Oscar for her role in "Chicago" and a Tony Award for her Broadway debut in Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, continues to captivate audiences with her musical performances.

Zeta-Jones, who described her role in "Chicago" as a "wow moment" that felt destined, has expressed a strong fondness for theatre, calling it her "true love". She has also enjoyed performing in musicals, a passion that was evident in her role as Velma Kelly in the film adaptation of Chicago and in her performance in the musical film "Rock of Ages" in 2012.

Despite her success in Hollywood, Zeta-Jones has not forgotten her roots in theatre. She had her first theatre experiences as a child and later appeared in various productions. Her latest theatre endeavour is her role as Morticia Addams in Tim Burton's spin-off of "The Addams Family", the Netflix series "Wednesday".

In "Wednesday", Zeta-Jones' character, Morticia Addams, is a student, and she sings in her role. The first season of "Wednesday" has previously been produced, and the second season has just started. Zeta-Jones' performance in the series has been well-received, with the show gaining a cult following.

While Zeta-Jones has not publicly announced specific future stage musicals she is considering after her role in "Wednesday", she continues to actively perform in projects that involve singing and dancing. This is evident in her role in "Wednesday" Season 2, where she showcased her singing and tango dancing skills.

However, Zeta-Jones has been cautious about returning to the stage for a musical performance, expressing that they can either be very good or very bad. Despite this, her history of success in both film and theatre, particularly in musical productions, suggests that any future musical performance from Zeta-Jones is sure to be a spectacle.

In addition to musical theater, Zeta-Jones is expanding her television career, including a new lead role in the Disney+ series National Treasure, which does not appear related to stage musicals.

As of August 2025, while there is no concrete news about future stage musicals beyond "Wednesday", Zeta-Jones' continued interest and skill in musical performance keep fans eagerly awaiting her next big role.
