Testifying Under Oath: Blake Lively vs. Justin Baldoni
Actress Blake Lively to Give Evidence Against Justin Baldoni
Get ready for some courtroom drama! Blake Lively, star of the hit film "It Ends with Us," will be taking the stand to testify against her co-star and director, Justin Baldoni. Lively's attorney, Mike Gottlieb, has confirmed this news in an exclusive interview with U.S. magazine "People."
"Yep, Blake will be testifying," Gottlieb shared. "When it comes to making your case, there's no place like the courtroom. We expect her to play a crucial role in this trial. Of course, she'll be a witness for the plaintiff's case."
The spotlight won't just be on Lively, however. Gottlieb hinted that other witnesses, whose testimonies could corroborate Lively's claims, will also be called to the witness stand.
"There are people around who've witnessed the misconduct or experienced it firsthand," Gottlieb emphasized. "We anticipate their testimonies, especially those related to incidents on set, will support Blake's allegations."
Headlining News?
The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni has gotten quite the media attention lately. Efforts to draw attention away from the case were suggested in late April when Lively made a speech at the Time100 gala, leaving many to speculate about her involvement.
"There's so much I could tell you about the past couple years of my life," Lively said.
It remains unclear whether Lively's husband, Ryan Reynolds, will also take the stand. Although he's a defendant in Baldoni's countersuit, Lively's team is working to have these claims dismissed. "In our view, they're baseless," Gottlieb mentioned. As for Reynolds, "it's anyone's guess" if he will be a witness, according to Gottlieb.
Lively's legal team has also expressed their frustration with rumors about high-profile witnesses like Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman being subpoenaed by Baldoni's team. "It just doesn't make sense," Gottlieb explained. "This case is about the mistreatment that Blake Lively faced during the filming of 'It Ends with Us.' It's not about the soundtrack selection for the movie or fictional Marvel characters from 'Deadpool.'"
Legal Drama Unfolds
The origins of this legal dispute go back to 2024, during the filming of "It Ends with Us." Lively filed a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing in December, followed by a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and a smear campaign against her. Lively took legal action against Wayfarer Studios and several individuals involved in the production.
Baldoni denied the allegations, countersuing Lively, Reynolds, Lively's spokesperson Leslie Sloane, and their firm Vision PR for defamation and civil extortion, claims that Lively's legal team has called "baseless." The trial for this highly-publicized case is set to begin in March 2026. Unlike other high-profile legal battles, this trial will not be televised, but some U.S. media outlets will be granted access to audio recordings.
