Actress Anita Kupsch of "Praxis Bülowbogen" has passed away.
In a heartfelt confirmation, Klaus-Detlef Krahn, the husband of renowned German actress Anita Kupsch, announced her passing on Thursday, at the age of 85, in Berlin.
Born in Berlin in 1940, Kupsch began her career as a make-up artist before transitioning into acting in the 1960s. Her talent and dedication quickly gained attention, leading her to roles in international films and German TV series.
One of her earliest notable roles was in Robert Siodmak’s *Tunnel 28* (1962), a US film also known as "Escape from East Berlin". She also starred in the German TV series *Okay S.I.R.* where she played the memorable character Biggi.
However, it was her role as Gabi Köhler, the doctor's assistant, in the popular TV series *Praxis Bülowbogen*, that made her a household name in Germany and established her as a cherished television icon. This role, which aired from 1987 to 1996, captivated millions of viewers and solidified her status as a beloved figure in German entertainment.
Kupsch's career spanned over six decades, leaving a lasting legacy in television, film, theater, and voice acting. She appeared in nearly 100 film and TV productions, including episodes of *Tatort* and the film *Die Spezialisten* (2017).
Besides live-action roles, Kupsch was a distinguished voice actress. She dubbed famous actresses such as Goldie Hawn in *Reisen mit Anita* and Liza Minnelli in *Rent-a-Cop*, and voiced Joan Landor in the anime *Captain Future*.
Her career achievements were recognised with several prestigious awards, including a Bambi Award, two Goldener Vorhang awards, and the BZ-Kulturpreis. In the 2013-2014 theater season, audiences voted her their favourite actress at Essen’s Theater im Rathaus.
As late as 2017, Kupsch was in front of the camera for the series "Die Spezialisten - Im Namen der Opfer". She also celebrated several stage successes, including "Golden Girls" and "Männer und andere Irrtümer", which she performed over 1700 times at the Berlin Schlosspark Theater.
Kupsch's husband confirmed that she had been in a care facility in Berlin. Despite this, he expressed that it was a relief for her to be there. He also stated that she was not well and could not express herself anymore.
In an interview, Kupsch once said that her character Gabi in "Praxis Bülowbogen" had no resemblance to her, except for having a mouth. She also enjoyed performing in cabaret, besides theater and TV.
