One of Kupsch's most iconic roles was that of Gabi Köhler in the ARD evening series "Praxis Bülowbogen" (1987-1996). Her portrayal of the assertive and non-conformist character made Köhler a cult figure, and Kupsch was often compared to her co-star, Günter Pfitzmann, with whom she shared a similar honest and straightforward approach.
Kupsch's television career also included roles in series such as "Okay S.I.R.", "Ein Mann will nach oben" (with Harald Juhnke), and her own comedy show, "Anitas Welt", which she received in 1998. Internationally, she was seen in the US-American film "Tunnel 28" (also known as "Escape from East Berlin").

Kupsch's wit and sharp tongue were well-known, and she once famously responded to an impertinent request during an audition with, "I don't have any talent on my ass." She also took ballet lessons as a child and danced with Tatjana Gsovsky, a renowned choreographer.
Throughout her career, Kupsch received numerous accolades for her artistic contributions. These included the Bambi and the Golden Vorhang. Her most recent television appearance was in 2017 for the series "Die Spezialisten – Im Namen der Opfer".
