In an unexpected turn of events, Jake Gyllenhaal and Kevin Costner are set to star in the upcoming film "Honeymoon with Harry," a poignant and humorous tale about a man who embarks on a honeymoon with his would-be father-in-law after the sudden death of his fiancée just two days before their wedding.

This unique story, which combines elements of drama and comedy, has been in the works for over two decades. Based on a then-unpublished novel by Bart Baker, the film has finally gained momentum with Amazon MGM Studios securing the rights. The movie is directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, known for their work on the hit series "Paradise" and "This Is Us," as well as the comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love." Dan Fogelman, creator of "Paradise," is responsible for the script.

Kevin Costner, renowned for his roles in "Dances with Wolves" and "Yellowstone," and Jake Gyllenhaal, who recently had success with Amazon projects and streaming series like "Presumed Innocent," are set to bring this unconventional and emotional narrative to life. The film aims to depart from typical heroic or macho stereotypes for both actors, offering a fresh take on their roles.

This will be the first on-screen collaboration of Costner and Gyllenhaal and marks a significant new project for both actors within streaming platforms. Notably, the trio of Ficarra, Requa, and Fogelman has also worked together in the past, having previously collaborated on "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and "Paradise."

In the past, Paul Haggis, Jonathan Demme, and Nick Cassavetes were in talks to direct "Honeymoon with Harry," but the project has now progressed into production with Ficarra and Requa at the helm.

Meanwhile, Gyllenhaal can also be seen in the 2024 action film "Road House." The film "Honeymoon with Harry" is set to be a tragic comedy, with the plot revolving around the groom whose fiancée passes away just before their wedding.

This spring, Gyllenhaal starred in a Broadway revival of William Shakespeare's "Othello," with Denzel Washington as his co-star. On the other hand, Costner's latest project, "Horizon," is an ambitious Western epic that he largely financed himself. The first two parts of "Horizon" were presented last year, but critics received them poorly.

Despite this, the anticipation for "Honeymoon with Harry" remains high, as fans eagerly await the on-screen collaboration of Costner and Gyllenhaal in this heartfelt and unconventional story.

The unique tragic comedy, "Honeymoon with Harry," based on Bart Baker's novel, will be streaming on Amazon MGM Studios, offering a fresh perspective on entertainment, blending elements of drama and comedy. This project is also the first collaboration between Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal, promising an intriguing combination of their respective talents in the realm of movies-and-tv.
