Actor Zach Braff will feature in the upcoming installment of "The Clinic" series.

In a significant advancement for ABC's anticipated reboot of the comedy-drama series "Scrubs," actor Zach Braff has agreed to reprise his role as Dr. John Dorian, also known as J.D. This decision is a major stepping stone following months of negotiations around issues such as compensation and filming location, with Braff expressing a preference for Los Angeles over the initially planned Vancouver. As of now, the final filming location for the reboot has not been announced.

The reboot of "Scrubs," being developed by 20th Television, is positioned as a hybrid of revival and reboot, incorporating both original and new characters. With Braff's commitment, the production team is poised to secure deals with other original cast members, including Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes.

The reboot, spearheaded by its original creator, director, and screenwriter Bill Lawrence, aims to revisit the medical world through a blend of returning characters and a new ensemble. The goal is to improve upon the concept of the unsuccessful ninth season, which, amid a shift in focus towards younger characters, was not well-received and ultimately cancelled after nine episodes.

Although the ink has dried on Braff's deal, no official announcements have been made regarding the start of filming or the confirmed location. Further production details are expected to be finalized soon.

"Scrubs," which premiered in October 2001 and aired until 2010, had nine seasons and was nominated for 17 Emmy Awards. Following the series' end, Bill Lawrence ventured into other projects such as "Ted Lasso," "Therapy," and "Bad Monkey," while Braff has recently completed filming for the independent movie "Clean Hands."
