Bidding Farewell to Legendary Actor Wings Hauser: A 58-Year Film and TV Career Remembered

Actor Wings Hauser has passed away.

Hop on over to gossip central, y'all! We've got some sad news to share: the legendary Wings Hauser, a household name in US series, has left us after an incredible 58-year stint in film, TV, and music. You read that right – five woopin' decades!

His son, Cole Hauser (best known as Rip Wheeler in Yellowstone), mourns the loss, as does the rest of the entertainment world.

The TV Face of the 80s

Wings first catapulted into the spotlight in the late '70s, ruling the daytime soap opera All My Children. He continued to light up our screens with recurring roles in popular series like Beverly Hills, 90210, Murder, She Wrote, and Roseanne, just to name a few.

On the big screen, the 1947-born Hauser left his mark in the 1982 cult classic Vice Squad, where he portrayed the ruthless Ramrod.

Variety magazine confirmed the beloved character actor's passing on March 15 at 78 – a testament to his remarkable longevity in the industry. A heartfelt post by his wife, Cali Lili Hauser, on Instagram praised his "unique, legendary career" and his collaborations with "many of the greatest artists in the industry and earned their respect."

A Young Star's Ascendancy

Wings' career started early with his 1967 debut in First to Fight, and forged ahead with success in The Young and the Restless (1977-1981, and again in 2010).

Throughout the years, he juggled film and TV appearances, earning nominations for Best Supporting Male in Tough Guys Don't Dance (1987) and contributing writing to Uncommon Valor (1983), among others.

Hauser also wrote the story for the Paramount Pictures film and even directed and starred in Coldfire (1989) and Living to Die (1990). Talk about versatility, huh?

As the universe of Yellowstone continues to expand, fans can look forward to more of Cole Hauser in spin-offs. Taylor Sheridan, the show's mastermind, is reportedly gearing up to continue Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler's adventures, potentially under a new series title.

Despite ongoing negotiations, it's uncertain if other familiar faces will follow. Kevin Costner, who stepped away from the series in June, is unlikely to return as John Dutton. But hey, who knows what surprises Sheridan has in store?
